Les Croods doivent trouver un nouveau lieu pour vivre. La toute première famille préhistorique va donc partir à la découverte du monde en quête d’une nouvelle maison dans un environnement plus sûr. Lorsqu’ils découvrent un paradis idyllique qui satisfait pleinement tous leurs besoins, ils pensent alors avoir résolu tous leurs problèmes… sauf un. Une autre famille y réside déjà : les Betterman.
